Elections to the 5th convocation National Assembly have taken place in the Nagorno Karabakh Republic.
Sixteen election districts and 273 election precincts, including one at the NKR Permanent Mission to the Republic of Armenia, operated in the NKR territory.
Elections to the 33-member Parliament were held on a proportional and majority system. Four Parties – “Free Motherland”, the Democratic Party of Artsakh, the NKR Communist Party, and the Armenian Revolutionary Federation of “Dashnaktsutiun” (ARFD) – nominated their candidates for the 17 seats envisaged on the proportional system. As a whole, the lists of the Parties comprised 82 people. 40 candidates competed for the 16 mandates on the majority system.
The NKR Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has summarized the preliminary results of the elections. According to the CEC data, the electoral lists included 98.519 citizens. 66.770 people, or 67,8% of the total number of voters, participated in the voting.
29.252 people, or 46,4% of the total number of voters, voted for “Free Motherland” Party, 18,017 voters (28%) – for the Democratic Party of Artsakh, 12.728 voters (20,2%) – for the ARFD, and 3.054 voters (4,4%) – for the NKR Communist Party.
About 120 international observers from France, Russia, the USA, Italy, Germany, Greece, Great Britain, Argentina, Ireland, Czechia, Denmark, Iran, Netherlands, Canada, Slovakia, South Ossetia, Abkhazia, Transdniestria, and others, as well as a big group of observers from Armenia observed the elections.
The observers stated that the elections were generally transparent, fair, and corresponding to the democratic standards.
The final results of the parliamentary elections will be made public in the nearest two days.
