Today Armenia Defense Minister Serge Sargsyan, who is in the United States on a formal visit, delivered a speech at Washington Carnegie Foundation, Armenia MFA press center reported. Pentagon officials, foreign diplomats and experts as well as representatives of scientific and research institutes came to hear his speech.
Besides, Sargsyan visited the Washington-based National Defense University for a round table discussion on South Caucasian security issues. He dwelt in his speech on US-Armenian relations, the ongoing democratic process in Armenia, its foreign policy basics, as well as on prospects for development of Armenia's relations with its regional neighbors. When representing Armenia’s position on the regional security Serge Sargsyan said the South Caucasian countries can make significant progress via cooperation only. In a reference to the Karabakh conflict regulation, he underscored the role of the OSCE Minsk group.
Sargsyan was then welcomed by the National Press Club to meet with journalists. He also met Congressman Jim Colby, to discuss US aid to Armenia, regional developments and Karabakh conflict.
