Taking into account the results of the June 19, 2005 parliamentary elections in NKR, as well as the changes in the Government staff, the NKR National Assembly discussed at its December 21 session the issue on endorsing the new composition of the state commission on elaborating the draft Constitution.

Chairman of the state-legal parliamentary commission Yuri Hairapetian informed that the state commission on elaborating the draft Constitution of NKR comprised 13 persons. NKR President Arkady Ghukasian is the Chairman of the Commission, and his Deputies are Parliament Speaker Ashot Ghulian and Prime Minister Anushavan Daniyelian. The Commission also includes other representatives of the NKR National Assembly and Parliament, as well as of political forces not represented in the Parliament.

Deputy Gegham Baghdasarian offered to include also representatives of the public sector and experts. Speaker Ashot Ghulian informed that these candidates would be included in the working group on elaborating the draft Constitution.

In spite of some disagreements, the Parliament’s draft resolution was approved by the deputies.
