In 2005, the Defense Army of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) received a total of AMD 750mln from various sources for the construction of housing for officers, NKR President Arkady Ghukasyan stated at a conference on the results of 2005 academic year.

"In 2006, this sum is expected to be doubled," he said. Ghukasyan reported that housing is also being constructed for the families of killed freedom-fighters and disabled soldiers, and the programs will be continued. "That is, these are the programs not to be stopped, and they must be developed for us to perform our duty to the army," Ghukasyan said.

"The border service is extremely difficult for one who is separated from his family, children. Especially so that the country's border is not at peace, because local military operations are going on. I am sure that each of us realizes the responsibility for the NKR population's security and future," the NKR President said.

Ghukasyan also outlined the socio-economic processes and the current state of the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement.

In his turn, NKR Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanyan dwelt upon the current state of army development, which was followed by a discussion of the agenda. Deputy-Commanders of the NKR Defense army made reports on the work done.
