The NKR Defense Army does not yield to Azerbaijan by its modernization and equipment, as the NKR Minister of Defense, Lieutenant-General Seyran Ohanyan told journalists in Stepanakert.

"Of course, bellicose statements of Baku, make us alarmed, the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh begin to think over those statements, however as a Minister of Defense I state that we are ready to fight for each inch of our land", Ohanyan stated.

"We do our best to make the frontier stronger, maintain the alertness of military formations and units aimed at withstanding any encroachments and provocations", Ohanyan emphasized.

Speaking of the situation on the frontier, Ohanayn emphasized that "the cease-fire regime is mainly violated by Azerbaijan".

At the same time Ohanyan stated that the army command conducts a consistent work aimed at increasing the discipline level of the soldiers and extermination of relations not within the frames of the regulations.

In this connection he informed that a Social Control Council of Army will be created by the initiative of the Army Headquarters this year. This Council will involve NGO representatives, who will render assistance to the commanders in estimating the real situation in the army and its improvement.

Answering to the question concerning the possibility of bringing into practice an alternative military service in Nagorno-Karabakh, Ohanyan emphasized that it is still early to speak about that, since the republic is in a situation when "we have to struggle for each person liable for call-up and conscript".
