CONSTITUTIONAL REFERENDUM: CONSTITUTIONAL REFERENDUM HELD IN NAGORNO-KARABAKH

Dec 10 Nagorno-Karabakh held a referendum on its constitution.

ArmInfo's own correspondent in Stepanakert reports that, according to the preliminary results, 74,541 people took part in the referendum, which is 83.7% of the total number of voters.

Observers from Russia, the US, Italy, the UK, Croatia, Serbia, Transdniestria, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, over 150 local and foreign journalists were present at the referendum.

The final results will be made public today.

According to the draft Constitution, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is a sovereign, democratic, legal and social state and regards the basic human rights and freedoms as the basis of freedom, justice and peace. In Nagorno-Karabakh power belongs to the people, who exercises it through free elections, referendums and local self-governments.
