Landmine Clearance (De-mining)

In 1992 more than half of the territory of NKR was under Azerbaijani military occupation. Thanks to the landmines they planted throughout the countryside, dozens of people die or become disabled every year in mine-related accidents. Thousands of acres of lands are uncultivated due to the presence of landmines.

Today, de-mining programs are carried-out primarily by the "Halo Trust" organization. The experts at Halo Trust believe that given sufficient funding it would be possible to almost completely de-mine Nagorno Karabakh.
