Road Infrastructure

During the war, the entire road system was completely destroyed. During the past three years, the government of Nagorno Karabakh has been constructing the North-South Highway, funded primarily through donations from the Armenian Diaspora. When completed, the highway will span about 105 miles and will serve as a "backbone" for the Republic's transportation needs. A network of smaller roads is needed to connect villages to regional centers.

Today, bad weather often makes travel to many villages virtually impossible due to the deplorable road conditions. Poor roads also seriously impact agricultural and small business development, making it difficult to transport the goods to markets.

Suggested Program and Budget:
Construction of local roads (250 miles) - $25 million.
